An overwhelming number of organizations still use spreadsheets to control their financial planning and budgeting processes, leaving them open to a significant risk of inaccuracy and lack of insight into the future. The H. J. Heinz Company (“Heinz”) was no exception to this challenge, using spreadsheets and a Microsoft Access based solution to manage its Zero-Based Budgeting (ZBB) system. Heinz eliminated its spreadsheet headaches by implementing Oracle Planning & Budgeting Cloud Service (PBCS), along with new processes.

An overwhelming number of organizations still use spreadsheets to control their financial planning and budgeting processes, leaving them open to a significant risk of inaccuracy and lack of insight into the future. The H. J. Heinz Company (“Heinz”) was no exception to this challenge, using spreadsheets and a Microsoft Access based solution to manage its Zero-Based Budgeting (ZBB) system. Heinz eliminated its spreadsheet headaches by implementing Oracle Planning & Budgeting Cloud Service (PBCS), along with new processes.

Sunrider International (“Sunrider”), a global firm with thousands of franchise stores and tens of thousands of distributors internationally, had a very detailed spreadsheet model with multi-currency, multiple roll ups, and reporting needs. This process was extremely time-consuming, cumbersome, and prone to errors. These obstacles impeded Sunrider from the needed visibility into their financial planning process. By implementing Oracle Hyperion Planning and Oracle Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) in parallel enabled Sunride to streamline both processes to reduce unnecessary time of gathering data, reconciliations, and the creation of reports.

In response to these challenges, UPHS implemented a comprehensive Oracle Hyperion Planning/Essbase/Reports/Web Analysis process for collecting, consolidating and reporting on budget data through an interactive dashboard process.
